3 Top Reasons To Hire A Graphic Designer

Often times when speaking with potential clients, the question arises, whether directly or indirectly: Why should I hire a graphic designer? In this climate of cookie cutter templates, the “V” Guys and DIY design, it’s easy to see why the value of a graphic designer seems to have diminished. I believe that because anyone with […]

Top 3 Reasons You Should Use The “A” Word In Church

I know what you’re thinking…. “Did she just tell me to curse in Church!?” Of course not. The “A” word I’m referring to is Advertising. So many times I’ve heard Pastors, church administrators and members say, “This is a church, we shouldn’t advertise”. That is simply not true and here’s why: # 1 It’s A Mandate From Scripture  Advertising […]

4 Common Mistakes That Could Be Costing You New Clients

We all have a goal when we create flyers, postcards, banners, etc. We want to get the word out about our product, service, event, or opportunity. We want to attract our dream client. But did you know, that the common mistakes I’m about to reveal could actually have the opposite effect on your target market?

#1 Misspelling

I know what you’re saying….“That’s a no-brainer”. However, you would be amazed at how many misspellings I discover when reading flyers and other advertisements. Whenever I discover a misspelling in a piece of work, that company instantly loses credibility. If you would be honest, your reaction is similar. I assume if you are lacking attention to detail concerning your work how can you effectively serve my needs? Here’s a word of advice: DO NOT TRUST YOUR SPELL CHECK! I know we rely heavily on spellcheck, but it will miss common misspellings. The same advice goes for autocorrect. How many times have you sent a message in a hurry only to find out that your autocorrect incorrectly corrected your word (did you get that?)? Please take the time to manually spell and grammar check your advertisements. It’s also a good idea to have someone else proof your work— two heads are always better than one.

#2 Lack of Visual Appeal

This element of advertising is very important. Some people think that as long as they get the information out there, that’s all that matters. Unfortunately that is not true. In this age of information overload, only those advertisements that stand out will get noticed. You want to draw your dream client in with visually stimulating and appealing graphics that will cause them to take a second look and hopefully follow through with your call to action.

#3 Missing Information

This mistake is the most crucial. Just recently, I attended an event where the program did not include the name of the honorees or the contact information of the organization. How can a prospect contact you if you neglect to include your contact information? One other item that is often neglected is the call to action. Don’t take it for granted that your prospective client will know what to do next.

#4 Failing to Highlight Pertinent Information

I will close with this tip. Make sure the information that is most important stands out on your advertisement. For example, most flyers really need the name of the event, the date, the time, the location and the contact information to be highlighted. That means that if you have a flyer where you include additional information like an invitation statement, what to expect, etc, make sure to highlight the pertinent information. The purpose of highlighting the pertinent information is to make it easy for your prospect to get all the information they need at a glance.

I hope this information will help you avoid the pitfalls that so many have encountered in their attempt to attract their dream clients! If you would like to know more about how Cierra Cole Consulting can help you win over your dream clients Contact Us Today for a free consultation.
